MY STORY

Creativity has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. As a child, I was fascinated watching my grandmother and her sister knit and crochet beautiful, fashionable pieces. They had a ‘magical drawer’ filled with sparkly beads, and I loved playing with them—sorting through them and searching for the most beautiful ones. It was through these moments that my love for handmade artistry began. Later, I learned to crochet and picked up the basics of embroidery, setting the foundation for my creative journey.

Although I loved making things by hand as a child, it took me a long time to realise just how essential creativity was to me as an adult. It wasn’t until after I got married that I pursued this passion more seriously, enrolling in an art school to study textile and fashion design at the People’s Conservatory in Ostrava, Czech Republic. This was a wonderful opportunity to develop my creativity and explore different techniques of working with fabric.

After becoming a mother, I found joy in sewing - creating pieces for our home and gifts for loved ones. Yet, I had always dreamed of sharing my work with a wider audience. When my second child grew a little older and I had more time to create again, I discovered bead embroidery and instantly fell in love with it. Over the following years, I refined my skills, learning also bead weaving and wirework to craft a diverse range of jewellery designs.

Today, I am grateful to be creating the work that I love, selling my jewellery in local shops and markets and showcasing my designs at renowned art events such as York Open Studios. Seeing happy customers appreciate my creations is truly rewarding.
I hope my story inspires you. Looking back, I can see that it’s never too late to start something new and follow your dreams, no matter where you are in life. It’s always worth it!

“I love all my jewellery and am a frequent customer. Martina produces beautiful intricate and unique pieces that I wouldn’t be without! These are some of my favourite jewellery items I have ever purchased.”

NATURE-INSPIRED JEWELLERY

Nature has always been a significant part of my life. I was born and raised in the Czech Republic, where my grandparents had a charming cottage in the beautiful Beskydy Mountains. We spent nearly every holiday there, immersed in the beauty of wild landscapes and experiencing the power and serenity of nature. It felt like a second home to me.

I also have fond memories of spending time with my other grandparents, who were passionate gardeners. Their beautiful garden, filled with vibrant flowers, was a place of wonder and inspiration. Those cherished childhood experiences left a lasting impression on me, shaping my deep connection with nature and inspiring my passion for creating nature-inspired jewellery that celebrates its beauty.

Although life has changed and I no longer spend as much time in nature as I once did, that connection remains strong. Whether I’m walking in the countryside or strolling through a park, I find myself captivated by the colours, shapes, and textures of the natural world. I often take photos of flowers, plants, and trees, capturing moments of beauty that later inspire my colourful jewellery designs.

Whether I’m crafting a statement bracelet that reflects the tranquil beauty of fresh green grass against a clear blue sky or designing a colourful jewellery collection inspired by the rich, vibrant hues of autumn trees, I strive to celebrate the beauty of nature. Through my work, I try to bring the beauty and character of different plants and natural elements into elegant and eye-catching designs.

For me, nature is an infinite source of inspiration that continues to shape my creative journey. Through my handmade nature-inspired jewellery, I hope to share that wonder with you, bringing a little piece of nature’s magic into your everyday life.
